Academic Interventions

Reading & Writing Remediation

We provide individual sessions with a reading and writing expert using evidence-based, empirically supported remediation programs, including the Orton-Gillingham, University of Kansas Strategic Instruction Model (SIM) and Wilson Reading System.

These structured interventions are designed to strengthen foundational reading and writing skills through systematic instruction that is responsive to each student’s specific areas of need.

Organizational Skills Training

We provide evidence-based organizational skills intervention and executive functioning support for students in third through eighth grade.

Students with organizational skills weaknesses receive targeted training and support to enhance their ability to:

  • Track assignments
  • Organize materials
  • Manage time effectively
  • Plan ahead for assignments

For some children, organizational difficulties—such as forgetting to complete or turn in assignments, misplacing or losing materials, and difficulty breaking tasks into manageable steps—can lead to academic failure. These challenges may also impact a child’s confidence in their academic abilities and contribute to increased family conflict.

The goal of this intervention is to empower children to build mastery and independence in specific executive functioning skills. These skills support academic performance across subjects and improve routines at home. Skills are demonstrated and practiced in each session, and parents are an active part of treatment, helping reinforce and support skill development outside of sessions.

Executive Functioning Support

High school and college students can also benefit from executive functioning interventions designed to help them manage the increasing organizational and academic demands of secondary and post-secondary education.

Support for older students is typically focused on strengthening their ability to work in an organized, intentional, and self-directed manner, supporting success in more complex academic environments.
