About Matthew Cruger, PhD

Dr. Cruger has been working in the field for over 30 years, bringing a wealth of experience to his practice of psychology and neuropsychology. Respect and compassion are at the heart of his work.

He seeks to make a personal connection with each individual he works with and to also connect with their family, addressing immediate concerns while remaining available as you and your family grows and adapts to new circumstances. For the children he works with, he leads with compassion and understanding to gather information about their cognitive and academic profile. This process aids in the production of a roadmap that will empower the child, their family and their school.

Built on Experience

Before founding Moving Forward Psychology, Dr. Cruger completed his post-doctoral fellowship and worked on faculty at the NYU Child Study Center.

He was also one of the original clinicians at the Child Mind Institute in New York. He served as the Clinical Director and led a team of assessment specialists in the Learning & Development Center. During his tenure at NYU CSC and CMI, he supervised licensed neuropsychologists and trainees of various levels, and led the development of programming to support students with ADHD and learning disabilities as they transitioned to high school and college.

Dr. Cruger also has training in family and couples therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), parent management coaching, and organizational skills and executive functioning interventions.
